Let’s Explore NY: Storm King Art Center

Let’s venture way up north for some fresh air and culture at Storm King Art Center. You can either drive, take a Coach bus, or ride NJTransit from Penn Station to Salisbury Mills and catch a short cab ride to Storm King.

If you drive or take NJTransit, I recommend you stop by Fresh in Cornwall and pick up some delicious sandwiches for a picnic in Storm King. I especially like the Hudson Valley Harvest panini, which comes with roast turkey and brie, and the Banh Mi (with chicken or tofu). All of the sandwiches are less than $10 (sweet deal!) and made to order. If you take the Coach bus, you can get lunch at the cafe at Storm King.

Storm King is a huge green space (500 acres!) filled with LARGE and small sculptures. It’s extremely pleasant and tranquil to walk through the park and see the different installations here. Many famous artists (such as Maya Lin, Richard Serra, Roy Lichtenstein, and Mark di Suvero) have works on display. There are multiple paths throughout the park but you can also walk on the grass if you want to get closer to nature and the sculptures. One of my favorite areas is the Northern meadow, where there are many smaller-scale works nestled in the woods.
